Cheating

Cheating in schools now a days happens all the time on various different assignments. They could range from exams to a simple task of answering a couple of questions for homework. Most students believe that cheating is fine as long as it is for small things such as home work that is due in a an hour. In my school people don't cheat on essays or assignments that require creative innovation but they do cheat on simple homework assignments because everyone ends up with the same answers anyways. I can't be sure why they cheat but the only times i do is because i forgot to do the assignment before hand and completely forgot its existence. Cheating on test is just not worth the risk of being caught, or at least that is my opinion but some students think otherwise. I don't think that cheating is that big of a problem in my school or at least not anymore. However I don't understand their reasonings sometimes. People always say they forgot to do it or they didn't have enough time but they stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning on facebook and other social networks while they could have spent 30 minutes finishing the assignment that they end up cheating on. Is it because cheating is easier?
"Oh math homework"
"Maybe i should spend an hour or half and hour if i work fast on it"
"But I can just copy the answers in 10 minutes tomorrow from John, so why bother?"
I suppose that is a reason. I don't see why not but there is a sense of integrity that some students hold that others don't. Why is that? Is it parental influence or education in schools previous to the one they are in now? I say that it can be both but mainly the education. If the kids are never caught cheating because the teachers don't care then the kids will assume that all teachers will be the same. In my case i have been caught before and it has severely impacted my perspective on the issue.

Reflection on looking for a spouse

After reading the New York Times article, I wasn't socked at the marriage business because I have heard of it before when I was living in Shanghai. However I could not imagine myself paying companies such as the Diamond Love Marriage company to help me with it. I prefer seeking out for a possible "soulmate" myself through my work space or social circle.I don't like the idea of depending on someone else to do it for me. Suggestions are welcomed but no one takes control of my love life. I don't have any preset requirements for who I would want to marry because I don't know. I don't like setting standards because it may limits my choices. I believe that it is unlikely for me to rush into a relationship with someone I barely know. For me people grow on and the relationships through time. There was never a time i saw a girl and immediately decided that i would want to start a relationship with.

Why Marry?

People tend to idealize marriages. People think that they would live happily together without fights but the truth is most of them do not know what they're getting themselves into. They hope to gain a sense of belonging, care, companionship, and a few other things. They love each other and think that the love would stand all challenges and want to make it known to the world. Sadly these days the percent of people who stay married with the same person is not as high as it use to be. People fall in love too quickly and make rash decisions. Some ignore the possible responsibilities that they have to take on once they enter a marriage. They give up time that use spend on other activities (most likely leisure) to spend more time taking care of responsibilities. The guys might have to sacrifice games night with the boys and the girls may have to sacrifice ladies' night out. But it all depends on the dynamic of the couple originally. If it was a healthy relationship to start with then getting married would not be so different from living together and being in a relationship other then the fact that it is legally binding. However sometimes when the two side have a different expectation of what changes will occur conflict begin to occur. The guy might be expecting more trust from the girl and less questioning and when the girl doesn't change that the guy gets angry and starts a fight.
There really are two reasons as to why people get married in my mind. One would be just because they are blinded by their "love" and rush into it. The second would be that they actually thought it through and spent enough time with the other person to know that they want to live with them for the rest of their lives and just want to make it official for everyone to know. Both ways is a kind of demonstration of how much love the couple has. One is just with out through thought and another one with.

Gender Role Model

Growing up I played a lot more video games and watched a lot more television then I did playing with dolls or toys. However I did have a stuff stored under my bed and in my closest. I didn't own any Barbies or GI Joes. What i did have were figures from my favorite cartoons and mechanical models that had to be pieced together by hand. The figures i had were of cartoon figures with super human attributes and monsters. The toys of figures that i did have were mainly used for imaginary role play when i was alone and forbidden to play video games or watch television. I would take them out and set them up on opposite sides of the table and act out a whole battle in my head while i move the toys with my hands. I had a wild imagination, piecing different cartoons together for one epic battle. As for the toys that were mechanic and had to be pieced together by hand, like Legos but for experts, i left in my room for display. They acted as a symbol of how dexterous i was with my hands and how at such a young age i was smart enough to piece the complicated toy all together by myself. They were some what of an outlet of my creativity, allowing my thoughts to run wild while i played with them.

Racism

I can recall the times that I have gotten defensive on behalf of my mother and I can identify with Loeong's feelings. I remember that one time, while it was not a direct insult to my mother, the other adult was saying things that I knew hurt my mother's feelings. A fire started to burn inside me and I tried very hard to hold it in, because I knew that if I let it out it would only make things worse, since the other adult was comparing his child to me. A comparison that obvious put his child above me; more superior than I am. Of course I was also angry on behalf of myself but I can recall the feeling of wanting to prove to the adult that my mother was doing a great job parenting. There have been other times when I got defensive when we were out and a couple of strangers started to get aggressive with my mom while fighting over a taxi. We were in Shanghai and the people there could tell that we are from outside of Taiwan. We ended up being kicked out by the driver himself. Racism involves difference that one see in another that causes a sense of disdain. Its a prejudice with hate.

Behaviors of the Opposite Sex

There has always been a saying or rather a belief that Men don't understand the minds of Women. They say that men think with their junk and women think with their hearts, is that even true. Being of the male population i have my questions about the female behaviors and i believe that they have questions about our behaviors too. Some of the questions i have are quite basic and frequently asked. Why do women have to look their best each time they "go out", even if it is only with their best friends. Dates i can understand but just a normal gathering with a few friends you've known since elementary school? Guys we just slap on what ever isn't in the washing machine. We only dress up for special occasions such as Grandma's 100th birthday, 10th anniversary with your wife/girlfriend, Prom, or a job interview. Why do girls always smell nice? You never hear a guy/girl say "oh god have you sat next to jenny? she smells!" You only hear that about guys and frankly most of the guys seem like they don't care but they really do. What is with female fashion? Everything seems so fragile and delicate. This has to go here and has to go there. I am not trying to say that it doesn't look good, really a lot of the clothes make some girls look better than they usually do. But why bother going through so much trouble when you would look just fine in a t-shirt and some nice fitting jeans? Now those are just a few questions i have, i am sure i have more but most slip my mind.
On the questions about guys. Why is it that we always like to mark some one as being gay or girly. I really have nothing against the homosexual but i do find myself using it in a condescending sense from time to time. Why are boys always seen as being unsanitary and why do some boys follow that stereotype. If you go to the bathroom, wash your hands, its not like you sweat soap.
